Veterinary Surgery

Our Denver animal care center offers many vet surgical procedures for your pet using stringent surgical protocols.

If your pet must undergo surgery, we have a dedicated nurse who administers anesthesia and will remain available to closely monitor your pet using state-of-the-art monitoring equipment.

Once the surgery is completed our focus will shift to post-surgery care as well as pain management for your pet. Your vet will also discuss any recommendations for home care.

Pet Surgery, Denver Vet

What to Expect from Pet Surgery

We will ensure that you are fully involved in the process leading up to the veterinary surgery and fully informed on what is being done and why. We will also provide you with all information regarding necessary home care and ensure that we only practice stringent surgical protocols at our clinic.

Surgical Procedures

At Downtown Animal Care Center, our experienced vets are fully equipped to perform a variety of medical pet surgeries in order to repair injuries sustained through trauma or for various conditions and diseases.

Our Denver vets are able to perform many different elective and non-elective surgeries.

  • Soft Tissue Surgery

Soft tissue surgical procedures are typically used to treat pets suffering from ear, nose, and throat disorders.

Our vets may also perform other soft tissue surgeries for pets experiencing other disorders such as those affecting the skin.

  • Spaying & Neutering

Spaying or neutering your pet will prevent them from being able to reproduce. This procedure can also increase the life expectancy of your pet.

  • Mass Removal

Masses in the skin of a dog or cat are fairly common as is mass removal surgery.

These masses are also able to grow inside a body cavity and although masses are usually harmless there are some which can be serious or life-threatening.

  • Foreign Body

There might be times when a foreign object becomes lodged in your pet's body.

Whether your pet had accidentally swallowed an undigestable object or there has been an accident that has left them injured, our vets can perform the necessary surgery to remove the object from their body.

If your pet requires specialized equipment or skills in order to remove the object, your vet will refer you to a cat or dog surgeon near Denver and continue to be involved with the entire process to ensure complete care for your pet.

  • Dental Surgery

Our Denver veterinarians are able to offer pet dental surgeries for your cat or dog. Our vets can perform a wide variety of pet dental surgeries including tooth extractions and gum disease treatment.

The Surgery Process

We understand that any type of veterinary surgery no matter how simple or complex can be a stressful situation for both yourself and your pet. Our vets will only recommend surgery when it is the best option to help your pet.

We will always fully explain the surgery details and why we have decided to take that course of action. We will not go ahead with the surgery without your full understanding.

In the rare case that your pet is in need of specialized surgical care, our vets will refer you to a veterinary surgeon near Denver, and work with the veterinary surgeon to ensure that your pet receives the best care possible.

Surgical protocols at our clinic include:

Pre-surgical assessments. We will always confirm the specifics of the procedure, complete a comprehensive physical examination of the patient, as well as ensure all blood tests have been completed and thoroughly reviewed by the vet in order to determine if your pet can be put under anesthesia safely and without risk of complications.

Dedicated surgical suites. All of the surgeries that we perform are done in a dedicated surgical suite. This room is kept completely sterile to prevent infection and cross-contamination.

Surgical attire. Our staff always wears disposable caps and masks at all times when they are in the surgical suite. All team members involved in the procedure itself will also be sure to wear sterile gowns and single-use gloves.

Sterile packs and equipment. Our surgical instruments and equipment are carefully cleaned, sterilized, and reprocessed prior to every surgery.
